The Harford Multisport Club has worked out an agreement to ride indoors on trainers for the cold months of the year at Bicycle Connection. Twice a week we meet at the store for a 1 hour structured training session. These classes vary from a typical spin class which is created to improve fitness exclusively; while an indoor cycling class is built around fundamentals of road riding and helping a participant understand a variety of riding techniques.
Outdoor rides take the place of indoor sessions when the weather is better. These rides are similar to other groups in the area with the exception that we DO allow TT or triathlon bikes or road bikes with aerobars.
Interval workouts on the track are available once a week where we can develop leg turnover and improve overall cardiovascular performance. We typically meet at the Bel Air High School Track.
Every weekend we have an opportunity to ride and then jump off the bike for a run. Completing bricks on occasion is a key aspect for fully preparing for a multisport event. There is nothing like the brick leg sensation when a run starts after an hour or more of pedaling!
The Arena Club has granted us access to their pool facilities every Sunday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. A beginer swim starts at 3:30 and the intermediate/advanced swim starts at 4:30. Some members of the club that were competitive swimmers in college are available for instruction and analysis.
A Harford Multisport board member, Daun Sigafoose, has been generous enough to offer his back yard and dock for open water swimming in the Bush River. He has several distances marked off from 1/2 mile to 1.75 mile round trips.
The Harford Multisport Club will host a “pick up” sprint triathlon throughout the season for those who want to build a little confidence before their first season of Multisport racing, to veterans of the sport that want to polish the rust from a long winter of indoor training.
